Bookshelf: The New Jim Crow

Read this book. It will change the way you think, question, and converse with people regardless of what color or background. I appreciated this book because it both starts a conversation and continues the conversation about race at the same time. There is no question that the racially charged political climate of 2016, the wars in Syria, Yemen and the crisis in Palestine are enough to spark a serious debate about how race and racism play a role in sabotaging the “American” experience or “American Dream”. For most people in this country, just simply getting here is more than they ever thought was possible. Our responsibility as people is to question the institutions that threaten liberty, life, freedom, and social justice and hold them accountable!
